Insulation Service

Attic Insulation

Improve attic performance with insulation removal, replacement, air sealing, blown-in insulation, batt insulation, and radiant barrier options.

Attic insulation for comfort and efficiency

Hot bedrooms in summer, cold rooms in winter, an HVAC that runs all day, drafts, musty smells, rodent damage, energy bills creeping up year after year. Those issues almost always trace back to attic insulation that has settled, been contaminated, or never reached today's R-38 baseline. We start by walking the attic, checking depth, access, ventilation, and existing condition, then recommend a scope that solves the actual problem rather than just adding another layer on top.

3–6 hrs typical install Same-day comfort difference R-38 baseline coverage
  • Existing insulation inspection and removal when needed
  • Air sealing around common attic leakage points
  • Blown-in or batt insulation based on attic access and performance goals
  • Radiant barrier options for heat control in suitable spaces

What homeowners say about attic projects

Recent feedback from Southern California attic insulation work.

★★★★★

E&E didn't just blow new insulation on top of the old mess. They completely removed the contaminated insulation, vacuumed and sanitized the attic, sealed all rodent entry points, and installed brand-new fiberglass.

Etai G. · Attic Removal & Re-Insulation

★★★★★

Full attic clean-out, asbestos ducting remediation, and installation of a new plenum and new ducts, air sealing, rodent proofing, radiant barriers and R-38 batts. They got it done on short notice, during the holidays.

Stuart S. · Local Guide · Large Attic Retrofit

★★★★★

We called Joseph and his crew to insulate our attic because our home was becoming unbearably hot during the last few heatwaves. The crew worked efficiently and cleaned up thoroughly.

Attic Insulation FAQs

When should attic insulation be replaced?
Replacement is worth discussing when insulation is compressed, contaminated, uneven, missing in sections, or no longer holding indoor temperatures steady. Rodent activity, moisture damage, and pre-1990 vermiculite are also reasons to remove rather than top up.
Do you remove old insulation?
Yes. When old material is damaged, contaminated, or no longer performing, removal is part of the scope. We use vacuum extraction, contained workspaces, and proper disposal. Vermiculite requires stricter handling and we follow those protocols.
What insulation type is best for an attic?
It depends on access, existing conditions, air sealing needs, and budget. For most existing Southern California attics, blown-in fiberglass or cellulose is the right call. Spray foam earns its place in conditioned attics, ADUs, and cavities where high R-value per inch matters more than cost.
Can I add new insulation on top of old?
If the existing material is clean, dry, and just settled, blowing additional insulation on top is usually fine and meaningfully cheaper than starting over. If there's contamination, moisture, or compression, removal is the right call before new material goes in.
How long does an attic insulation job take?
Most residential attics finish in one to two days. Removal adds time depending on access and the amount of material. We confirm a schedule before we start so the timing matches the rest of your day.
